Some changes were made to the information passed to reduce the volume of information passed by the pilot but they still need to know Who you are; Where you are from and where you are going to land as these are written on the strip. If you then aren't heard again, they can find out from your point of departure more details about you, and they can check with your destination to see if you arrived!
