I strongly agree with that. I did most of mine on my Pup 150 (in 1991) and finished off the last bit in a 172, which was a vastly easier IFR platform. If I had attempted to fly in real IMC conditions in the Pup having only flown the 172 in such conditions I would have had a big fright. As it was I was able to use the IMCR straight out of the bag and did many hours hand flying in cloud over the next few years and got it well and truly out of my system!
