This is supported by there being no visible bodies until several days had passed.
I am not suggesting the bodies didn't sink.
There was also no confirmed sightings of any parts before June 5, with a body being sighted before the VS so I guess one can also follow this logic and find support for the notion that the VS didn’t surface till after the first body. Or perhaps it merely confirms that if you look in the wrong place you don't find anything.
My original analysis was merely to suggest IMO that there is a high probability that the impact point was related to the slick. The last comment was answering the query re the VS drift.
