In Europe the yellow star has historically and from time to time been enforced garb for Jews since at least as long ago as the Middle Ages. The Nazis resurrected this mark of Cain but they certainly didn't invent it. Enforced upon a Jewish wearer, the star has always been intended as a badge of shame. A Jew might voluntarily wear the star to draw attention and sympathy to the plight of his ancestors but when a Gentile wears the yellow star it must surely signify nothing more than self abasement. The particular sub species of a union under discussion seem to have quite a knack for taking totems which are of great and justifiable importance to certain sections of society and debasing them. But of course there may be no truth to any of this stellar activity anyway.
The Star of David is the hexagram or six sided star composed of two overlapped triangles. The pentacle or five pointed star design is the one more favoured for amusing festivities at certain times of the year. Mind you though, in his Greater Ritual of the Pentagram, Aleister Crowley used both devices in his secret formulation of Abrahadabra.
