Whichever method you use you will become competent in its execution, it generally doesn't matter which. The difference I think comes with the size and speed of the aircraft you're flying; the point and power mothod becomes more and more the one to use. On smaller aircraft it's purely a matter of choice. Try both and see which one you prefer. Just don't get evangelistic about it
