FSO Griffo -re: ski's... there's a little more to it than just throwing a set of skis on & charging off looking for somewhere to play, as I'm sure you are aware. I reckon
Compressor Stall and others would have some invaluable information & knowledge to pass on. Not too sure if you'd be able to get appropriate training in AUS -nearest I can think of would be Mt Cook in NZ.
BTW: in a pinch, floats can be used on snow too
