What impact (if any) will the decision of RYR to chop BHD have on Derry? Route transfer seems unlikely, but perhaps Derry can take a share of the 800K pax who used RYR out of BHD.
Lets keep the BHD FR spat in perspective. FR will return to BHD when the runway extension is completed. They could operate from BFS in the meantime but I'm not sure if they'll agree terms.
But could Belfast's loss be Derry's gain? LDY lost the Bristol route to BHD. I doubt however it will return. The numbers were too low. However I would have thought that BHD losing 800K pax p.a. (about 25% of BHD's total, about 10% of total passenger numbers in Northern Ireland) will mean increased demand for remaining routes from NI so it will surely have some impact mostly presumably for people who live somewhere between LDY and BFS/BHD and for whom either airport would suffice.
I do think that it will mean more European routes from LDY, routes that might otherwise have been operated instead from BHD.
