Not a good couple of weeks for us Aussie Ppruners, First we lose Binos, now we've lost the Wiz.
I think I met Darren at the Ozbash in 2002, although I was only able to stay for the first 2 days. Truly a character. On the forums he regaled us with tales of his beloved "Daisy", and we were able to follow his progress around the aviation scene in our wide, brown land. Now, no more.
Farewell mate, fair be the weather in the skies you'll travel.
Sadly, I also knew Chris Hart, the marine pilot who lost his life in the accident. Chris and I sailed on the "Howard Smith" in the mid to late 80s, he as 1st Mate, myself as Radio Officer. Always entertaining, and a very fine and competent Master Mariner, "Choff" as he was known had a ready wit and never let an opportunity for fun slip by. He enlivened many an evening in the smoke-room after watchkeeping hours were done.
Godspeed, guys, and thanks for all the happy memories.
