As a southerner almost devoid of any officially-sanctioned viewing areas at all my local airports I have been a fan of the AVP at Manchester and try to visit on 2 or 3 weekends during the year.
Previously the admission charge was of the order of £4 to £5 for car and driver and you could stay for as long as you liked. I was somewhat taken aback recently to find that the new scale of charges now adds up to £12 for a stay of more than 3 hours.
I'd be interested to know if such an inflation-busting price rise has put people off and perhaps resulted in less revenue - for the park itself, and also for the shop and snack bar/restaurant. I will certainly be more likely to seek out one of the "free" vantage points on my next visit to Manchester.
