Thumbs up Port Townsend Aero Museum, Washington state

I visited this gem of a museum last month during a trip to Seattle. It's situated on a busy working airfield with a popular cafe on site. Here are a few pics. More on Flickr.

Stinson "Detroiter", 1930. Lycoming R680 225 hp. Cruise 100mph. Stall 55 mph. Empty weight 2250 lbs. Capacity 5 persons. Flown regularly by the museum.



Student Prince, 1931. One of three aircraft built by the Aircraft Builder's Corporation, a group of students enrolled in the Adcox Aviation Trade School in Portland, Oregon. Restored by the museum over two years, July 2005 to July 2007. Kinner 125 hp. Cruise 100 mph. Top speed 135 mph. Range 500 miles.



Ryan PT-22. 1941. Kinner 160 hp. Cruise 110 mph. Landing speed 54 mph. Empty weight 1313 lbs.



Pietenpol "Sky Scout". 1932. Ford Model "A" 45 hp. Cruise 68 mph. Landing speed 35 mph. Empty weight 570 lbs.



Curtis-Wright "Junior". 1931 (Replica). Continental 65 hp. Cruise 60 mph. Stall speed 30 mph. Empty weight 580 lbs.



Aeronca L-3 "Grasshopper". 1943. Continental 65 hp. Cruise 85 mph. Landing speed 45 mph. Empty weight 820 lbs.



Cessna 140. 1946. Continental 85 hp. Cruise 108 mph. Stall speed 45 mph. Empty weight 940 lbs.



Luscombe 8A. 1946. Continental 65 hp. Cruise speed 105 mph. Stall speed 45 mph. Empty weight 665 lbs.



Globe Swift GC-1A. 1946. 85 hp. I quote from the placard:

"Produced from 1946 to 1951, the Globe Swift is a sporty general aviation design whose beauty and superior flying characteristics have made it a favourite classic. The 'A' model was the only multi-seat, complex, nonexperimental aircraft of its time in the United States under 100 horsepower. With its sleek lines and retractable gear, it handles like a fighter and was a major advance over wood-and-fabric designs. It was surprisingly economical to fly.

"Prior to purchase by its present owner, this 1946 Swift spent 20 years in the Swift Museum Foundation collection on display in Athens, Tennessee. It retains most of its alclad skin, early production magnesium engine cooling grille and fabric-covered rudder. The interior is vintage as well, with its art deco-style instrument panel and instruments, cream and blue colour scheme, and original control wheel yokes and seats."



Aeronca 7AC "Champ". 1946. Continental 85 hp. Cruise speed 95 mph. Landing speed 45 mph. Empty weight 710 lbs. Used by the museum as a primary trainer.



Stinson SR-10 Reliant. 1940. Pratt & Whitney 450 hp. Cruise speed 177mph at 9000ft. Landing speed 63mph (with flaps). Empty weight 3045 lbs.



Travel Air 4000. 1928. Wright J-4 200 hp. Cruise speed 110 mph. Landing speed 45 mph. Empty weight 1650 lbs.



Waco YKS-6. 1936. Jacobs L-5 275 hp. Cruise speed 130 mph. Stall speed 54 mph. Empty weight 1809 lbs.
