I use LogBook Pro, it's American but customisable.
There's nothing wrong with keeping an electronic logbook as long as you keep a paper one as well. My paper logbook has the bare minimum details while the electronic one has a lot more detail. At some point I'll print the electronic one and have it nicely bound.
As far as software compatibility goes, the data in an electronic logbook is very basic and can be exported into simple comma deliminated text files.
