http://www.flickr.com/photos/27183900@N04/ I rented from Grand Junction Colorado. I'm going back next week. No problem with crossing State boundaries. I used only airfields approved by the FBO. All good tarmac. However the security situation may be very different from 2004, when I was last there.
There is a 2000 ft minimum over National Parks, and the arches look quite small. Upheaval Dome in adjacent Canyonlands is spectacular.
