BAA airports strike; don't know if Luton is spinning good
PR but almost every report about the proposed strike at BAA airports shows Luton as being a place to send re-scheduled flights, Ok Manchester and Prestwick as well (Birmingham strangely not so...)
We all know overnight stop overs are a big no no but how much flex could Luton handle during 8AM to 10PM, quite a bit I feel, even if it was repositioning of a proportion of EZY/RYR programs?
If it does go ahead then the VVIP traffic must be worried as runway slots must come into force.
LCY operators will be seeing this as a goldmine, I know LGW will help as much as it can.
Could even take me back to the time I was in short trousers and LHR was fogged out and Sabena/Swissair/Lufthansa/Iberia/Aer Lingus were parks on half stands, wing tip to wing tip. I'm sure a couple of ex ATC controllers working that day can remember the fun???!
