Yes Graeme; lathes and milling machines. Our latest one is an eight ton lathe with a driven chuck at each end and a tool turret between that's a sort of milling machine in its own right, with up to 96 lathe tools or driven milling cutters/drills/taps, it can attack the the workpiece held in the chucks from almost any angle, grip the part finished component in the second chuck, cut it off the bar-stock, end then work on the cut end to finish the part in "one-hit". Real cool ****, but it needs to be for what it cost us!!

Always a bit dramatic when the juice goes out and they're in full flight, but today we got away with only a broken tap. The motion stops instantly but the spindle motors spin down and threading tools don't like that, but hey, nobody likes having their screwing interrupted do they

The Hitler bit in the Top Gear you missed was when JC said that we have a Brazilian as a guest tonight, then said that he didn't mean a bit of female genital "topiary" that's nicknamed that here (don't know if it's used in OZ), but when he asked if they used that phrase in Brazil, Rubens said that it was called a Hitler after the famous tash!

BTW, if you want to see the whole show, you can see it here:

BBC iPlayer - Top Gear: Series 15: Episode 3

I dunno if you can access it in OZ and you'll probably have to download the free iPlayer, but it may be worth a try.

Yep, no broadband at home mate, not even a computer!! But it'll change next month, the only problem then is, when will I get any sleep
