Madam – I am an American staying in Ireland for three months this summer. We have flown from Cork to London, Paris and Lisbon. At the other three airports we exited through air bridges. Each had advertisements on the outside and inside of the air bridges to help pay for their cost. In Cork, no matter rain, gloom, or sun, you must walk down the stairs carrying your wheelie bag, cross the tarmac, then carry your bag back up two flights of stairs. Doesn’t anyone care about the elderly? Is this a third-world country?

A new terminal was built, but the airlines using it dictate policy. Ireland needs to do smart things to get the tourist dollar back. One act would be the Cork Airport Authority operating the Cork terminal using the air bridges like a first-world country. – Yours, etc,

HERBERT LEVITT,

Scilly,

Kinsale,

Co Cork.
