I did my ATPL exams from Feb-Jul 1999 in UK, and I studied with PPSC correspondence course. You did learn alot of extraneous (and outdated) material, but it was decently presented. I heard at the time that Bristol 'taught the exams' if that's what you're looking for.
Anyways with PPSC correspondence I was 14 for 15 written exams (Damn Air Law) so it can't be that bad. They didn't offer CD-rom back then. But if they're bust then the choice got easier.
