I wonder why do pilots have to go on such " adventures " while on a layover. A macho thing? I certainly hope for the best in this case but I am sometimes amazed at pilots going into bungy jumping, alpine skiing, etc at layovers. Well, they certainly will have wild and interesting tales to tell in the crew lounges of their exploits but please do so on their yearly vacations
I thought many airlines have policies against engaging in hazardous sporting activities during night stops, not that I think tramping is hazardous.
