The weather
at the point of impact is a bit of a red herring. Pointing an accusatory finger on the grounds of this evidence (lack of?) is as relevant as accusing the aircrew of breaking their authorised MSD in the final moments before the crash. If we are sticking with the weather, I think it is worth revisiting Day's & Wratten's assertions about the weather and how they came to these particular conclusions.
That said, this argument has been wrung out before - a couple of times.
