Actually the same is true for Jets lighter than 45to (eg CRJ, EMB...). A lot of airlines in europe will hire you neither as a DEC due to seniority systems in place nor as a first officer, because they think you will be unhappy as previous commander in the right hand seat again (and with the paycut you'll likely have). And without hours (PIC or SIC) on aircraft bigger than 45to you wont get any of the good expat contract right now on offer. So unless you get a command on a B737/A320 or bigger i would stay where you are and move up the ladder in the right seat first.
