Lifestyle varies somewhat on who you speak to. Since last early last winter we have been under crewed, leading to an unsustainable roster, both for the company, and the pilots in terms of fatigue etc. However, the crew numbers are being increased, and BALPA have been formally recognised!
Overall, its night freight. Trips vary between 2-7(ish) days away from home. Nights from 2-10 (ish) hours duty, 1-3 sectors (normally) with lots of sitting around.
What you need, and we havent been getting recently is time to recover at home. Quite a few on 8 off in 28. If you're planning on commuting to LEJ, it takes it toll. Not sure how the contracts work, but if its guaranteed jump seats, this will take a lot of stress off, and hopefully provide more time at home.
Not the best, far off the worst, and could quite easily be one of the better jobs.
