I was 38 yes a old git at 38 before I got a nice job on the Airlines flying a 737 NG.
As for being qualified soon....
I would not rush at all, it may take two years before any real improvement, but remember there are a LOT of very experienced pilots out there all over the world, who would love to come back to their home countries, that in mind you as a new qualified pilot will find it hard to get a job.
