The Morobe Province, body charters 'n stuff
I recall on one occasion joining overhead Sialum (from Siwea) with a load of the normal crap on board, (kopi, tinpis etc) and noticed a larger than normal group of local folk gathered in the parking area. When I got out the wailing was deafening. I began to untie the net to offload whatever when one of the locals came over to check the contents of my balus. He called out to the mob in ples tok and the wailing immediately stopped. They were expecting the return of deceased loved one. Another aircraft joined overhead and the mandatory wailing began on cue.
The owner of the resort at Sialum (also owner of the only video shop in Lae) and was an "interesting character" to say the least. Not surprised to hear he was charging Hilton prices, I always thought he was the type who'd sell his grandmother to a brothel and charge virgin prices.
