.......Puts me in mind of the time there was a resort? at Sialum where I spent a liesurely weekend, used to have a small pier - picked up a 40mm shell from the water - seem to remember the strip was coral.
.....and that reminds me of an overloaded C185 (SP and unrestrained pax) which impacted and burnt near Sialum en route Lae - Kabwum, got mixed up with apinun thunderies, hit trees at six thousand feet losing a wing and spun down nearly to sea level. It was the 185 that Richard Leahy successfully ditched into Lake Wisdom on a photography trip, recovered and rebuilt before selling to the pilot who crashed near Sialum.
