When a company, or a controlling stake in it, changes hands the new owners acquire the assets and assume the liabilities of the company, which include any pre-existing commercial agreements previously agreed by the company with other parties, which remain in force. The share transfer therefore will make no difference whatsoever to the status of any agreement Peel may have had with easy or any other operator.

I have my own ideas as to why this rumour/wishful thinking has become gospel.
Further, about ten days ago Peel Airports sold approx 65% of it to Vancouver Airport Services. Two days ago EZY announced a new Liverpool route and said there will be more new route announcements later this year.
So given both 'events' it appears that EZY are more than happy with its Liverpool operation stating 'we plan to expand further from this key base' and it dealings with the owners.
