Both IDE controllers were in use when all was functioning,
Primary master was the HD, Secondary master was the first CD burner.
Adding the CD burner, was set to slave and plugged in.
One of the first things i did after this happened was remoe the added drive and reboot seeing if stuff came back.
This does sound like a conflict for the modem, I think the onboard sound just died on the motherboard though, but I'll allow for anyth9ing at this point.
Right now not at it, so anything we discuss would have to be tried when I return home after work.
