Before you go can you post a link to these statistics? I've done a quick google and can't find much.
Before seeing any statistics I'd like to add that India's fleet is still quite small on a global scale (about 450 airframes???) so it doesn't need many incidents to skew the statistics towards the less safe side whether you look at incidents per flying hour or per x amount of flights flown.
