To me the point here is that it appears that the 'automatic' retraction of LEdge devices with reverse deployment (neat and practical) was not thought through, in as much as in the wrong situation with 'average' flying skill at the front, it would have caused a hull loss. (All kudos to the handling pilot and PIC for keeping their cool in rather exciting circumstances). I have not read all the tech details, but a 'safety link' ie was reverse actually selected and were we on the ground would appear to have been useful.
I am not clear about your reference to "a dual engine failure at a hot and high airfield"?
