I know the feeling 'honda cbx', and my experience won't really help I'm afraid.
Three years ago after many emails and phone calls, I eventually managed to make arrangements with the school/club at Tenerife North airport (Real Aeroclub de Tenerife) and was told by the ops person by email to call at the security gate and they'd get me escorted to the club. Well, the gate security were about as obtuse as they could possibly be, and even production of my valid license, passport and logbook wouldn't encourage them to be anything other than downright rude. They refused to call the club and appeared to view me and my Mrs with just utter contempt
Tried to phone the club on my mobile but no one was answering so just put it down as a bad job.
And to cap it all, the hire car got towed away from the 30minute waiting area 15 mins after we arrived, even though there were quite a few other cars (non hire) that were there when we arrived, and had a blind eye turned by the miserable old git in the tow truck. Cost us something like 70 euro to get it back.
So, all in all a bad experience, and I'd not easily recommend you spend any of your valuable holiday in the vain attempt of getting a flight.

The impression is that Tenerife North Airport is for the Spaniards only, and they don't like 'johnny foreigner' there
