I learnt that a real emergency can never be prepared for and your actions depend on you and how you manage stress yourself.
I agree with the bit about how an individual handles stress will go a long way to determining how an emergency is handled - but it's not true that it can't be prepared for. This is wholly, completely, a training issue. Many other work areas (notably police/military) have proven for many years that you can very effectively train suitable responses to high stress situations and emergencies - but this *always* comes down to the quality and technique of the training used to "program" these reponses.
This isn't a specific comment on you or your student - and it's of course hard to have a very high level of emergency training in a pre-CPL student. But these situations can certainly be prepared for.
