Good Point Mr Aerocat.
Many of the inbound jets would often call at a point on descent well prior to the 30nm - (7 mins or so) just so they could get an appreciation of the traffic to be expected, and plan accordingly.
A VFR '210' is usually 12 mins or so from 30nm.
From 8nm the times would be.......
