The only way to make the JER route work from B'mouth is to contact CIT/Discovery Jersey/Airways Holidays and persuade them to operate a weekly or bi-weekly charter flights, as they do from a lot of other UK airports, even tiny ones.
Flybe or Cityjet would be the perfect carriers to do so, with the option of selling directly the remaining seats via their website (e.g. Flybe).
