Very smart, Tonker, and it certainly looks a lot more useful than the Mark III Lee Enfield that I had during my first year in the Combined Cadet Force, before I thankfully shed khaki and a kilt for dark blue. I was actually quite proud of it until the Permanent Staff Instructor disillusioned me by informing me that the pretty silver painted band round the muzzle meant that I must never fire blanks - with the rifle that is!
On the plus side, its four figure serial number belatedly became very useful as a PIN .....
