A healthy and timely debate
At the end of the day an airport like BOH can only make decent cash on the commercial revenue streams generated by increased pax volumes and not through aeronautical fees. It would be next to impossible to generate the volumes required at BOH and still charge 'decent' aeronautical rates.
Maybe MAG feel they can get easyJet into BOH and extract higher aeronautical fees. But i tell you now - if they do that pax numbers will go down. easyJet's average fare is far higher than ours. BOH will only be able to attract our growth with a heavy heavy discount on rates. In turn those savings are passed on through lower fares, thus widening the gap between the fares on offer at BOH with those at say SOU, LHR etc. This will then create BOH's own market. A sizable one. We know and understand this. MAG dont seem to.
