The problem with a
VB and a SIA joint venture is a difference in business models.
SIA are looking for a full service airline to fill the gap in the STAR Alliance network.(Also other STAR Partners especially United are hurting from the lack of a full service option).
Where as
VB is committed to a low cost business model,eg no business class,no business lounge's, a pay as you go cabin service and a reluctance to join a frequent flyer program.
I'm sure SIA have pursued that option of of a joint venture ( it certainly would have been a lot cheaper !!!)
Media reports suggest that relations between Branson and SIA have been a little cold of late.
Maybe their entry into Oz has stepped on a few toes !
Time will tell, we have been hearing stories for years that the Singaporeans have been coming. However this time there seems to be a lot more evidence, Sydney Airports is deciding today who gets what gates in the old Ansett Terminal. Maybe there will be an announcement that a unnamed airline has secured some gates.
Patience !!
