400hp Commanche? The Townsville Refueller used to have one - but I never managed to talk my way into it!
Had a go at one around 30 years ago. I think it might have been based at Ballarat back then. 21/22 Usgph from what I remember, close to the 185kt mark. The 260C was a nicer machine to fly, but the 400 could go awfully hard when you wanted it to.
Reckon the Comanche was one of the best things that Piper ever did. It's a true GA classic
