As I recall, Peter Garrison [
http://www.avweb.com/sponsors/flying....html#garrison] in his 1981 book "Long Distance Flying" also says that wearing a skirt while flying is more comfortable than trousers or shorts ... although he does concede that it can be a little embarassing at times.
