Thank you everybody for the advice and taking the time out to reply to my original message - I wont give up, I shall try again for Virgin in 6 months and in the meantime apply for some other airlines!
My boyfriend just found out today that he has been offered the Fire Brigade and that was his 3rd attempt, so it just proves the perserverance does pay off (he dosent know if he is going to take it now though!)
