HG: thanks for the reply. This may be a question about 'country'.

After the relatively recent 'organ retension scandals' in many UK hospitals, they did a nationwide census to see who had exactly what in the freezers. They did find the head and body of a 10? yr old 'cleft palete' sufferer in 1 UK institution but Alan Milburn (in his statment to parliment) gave the impression that this was the apex/the biggest case/the horribilest example of what had been happening.

But this is the UK. I could see the US as being quite different, even if it's only in terms of quantity.

But as we all tend to belong to someone as a child, I'd like to see the numbers of children not claimed or 'donated to science' just for cuiousity sake.

Parents fight tooth & nail for their kids so it seems to me just so against our human nature/instincts to not care for them after death.
