I came up against the same problem. £40 a month for ordinary joe. over double that once you say you're a pilot. Rip off.
I ended up getting a special policy that excluded any cover whilst I was flying at work. Considering you're more likely to get killed on the roads, heart attack, in the street etc. than flying.
