Sticking with photos, this is one I took of the Mull a few weeks back (sorry for the quality - iPhone
). Anyway, you can just about make out the high ground immediately to the left of the Mull (quarter left) and the coastline to the South but the area of the lighthouse is covered in low cloud. You must bear in mind that this picture was taken from about 15nm away and everywhere else had fantastic visibility. As meadowbank implies, this type of localised cloud/mist/fog is quite common in the Irish Sea.
