Does one have to be rated on the NG?
Virgin Blue give you a 45 minute test in the 737 NG simulator on basic instrument flying including an ILS. If you haven't flown a jet before you would be wise to arrange for a practice session before doing the test. Ppruners familiar with the process could advise you how to do this.
