VH TBB
Capt. Lionel Thrift did have a little sense of humour... when the first poster of the new B727 was distributed it bore the registration VH TBB and Capt Thrift queried with Head Office if it was going to replace the Bristol at Lae. The reply he received was "You provide the loads and we'll provide the aircraft"
I remember assisting the loading of a boiler for the new pyrethrum plant in Mt Hagen into the Bristol at Lae. The boiler was designed around the dimensions of the Bristol... but they forgot to include the measurements of the outside fittings like pipes and hatch fittings!!! We just got it in.
