KAL recruiting... Really???

Check the banner above. Is it Rishworth or Parc or perhaps Best? Sorry, Best are in the sin- bin now. Seems they called Koreanair's bluff and all who are contracted by them will not be doing so soon- another loss of experience for the carrier. This just adds to the revolving door scenario at Kimchi central. Despite about six expats a month joining them in recent years they have less than they had a year ago. That door is well oiled here. Many Ozzies lured from the sandpit, having replanted their families in Australia, are now finding out Krudd tore up 23AG- so big tax bills loom. Source will dry up there quickly as the Canadians discovered some years ago and left in droves. Remedy was to give everyone an extra 1000-2000 a month. Didn't work- they kept leaving. KAL states they need 150 expat pilots a year for the next 5 years but if they keep hemorrhaging them, that number will need to be revised. Expat FO's also now seeing the light and leaving in droves. Why would a professional want to put themselves in a position where they had no career path, were not valued or listened to or respected and treated like sh*t at the same time observing the pathetic performance of some of their superiors. Conversely there is no regular source of national FO's any more after the boss got the sh%ts with one of the unions and shut down the company sponsored flying college because it became a breeding ground for unionists! In addition the Air Force recently added 5 years to the compulsory service period for its pilots. All this against a backdrop of industrial relations that is at pressure cooker levels. Company has an agreement with the unions as to a cap on the number of expats which it has already exceeded and has signalled will triple!! Latest trendy way for expats to leave is to just not come back to work after home leave. Management need to learn about the idea of an exit interview (if they can catch them). One brave sole did the midnight dash but had the fortitude to write to them as to why. Subjects included were; FOQA being used as a punishment tool; significantly lower salary versus other Asian airlines; devisive encouragement of a snitch mentality whereby FO's report on captains and the no First Class seat policy for commuting expats. Why is KAL continually recruiting??? mmmmm
