Any of you guys around during the "Venison Wars" in the 70's when sand "accidently" got ingested into the oil? That era got me interested in a Rotary licence but then they change a CPL from 50 hours to 150. Made it too expensive for me then.
Mid 80's a friend was flying a PA28R in cruise when he was VERY surprised to have a 500D whizz passed him.

Later worked out the 500 must have seen him and built up some kts in a dive to get passed so easily.


(Cruise on the PA28R was 125kts) Was fairly funny at the time.

The Chopper Boys is a MUST read for anyone interested in rotating wings. An absolutely brilliant book and I am annoyed I donated my copy to the Canterbury Aero Club when they were creating an aviation library.
And I see post #89 is proof that the Black Helicopters do exist!!
