It wasn't the number of staircases that was the problem...
...it was the
lack of staff numbers at both the easyJet check in desk and at the scanners in the security area. There were lots of spare check in desks and scanners not being used.
Having ~15 flights going out from 6am to 7am simply requires more staff to process the numbers involved.
