What I don't get is why whatever dust fell knocked out the Aer Lingus A320s, but Ryanair were able to use their 737 to fly to Dublin. Any ideas?
Depends on what level the ash cloud is at.
You'd generally fly a lot lower to Dublin (maybe the FL150 - FL190 range. never above FL245) than to say, Gatwick, which was FL360 when i flew back last week
