How to weigh a helicopter with the altimeter ! ......
30 ft on the altimeter ~= 1mb = 1 hPa ~= 10kg/m^2
Area of R44 disk ~= 5^2 x 3 = 75m^2
75x10kg = 750kg
Therefore an r44 'weighs' 750kg
(plus approximately 1/3 rd of that for pressure drop on top) ~= 1000kg
