Well the whole idea of the 3 year subsidy of Cardif - Anglesey was for it to become comercially viable operation.

The Welsh Assembly Government at the end of the three year subsidy placed another 4 year tender for airlines to bid for but on a minimum of 29 seat aircraft. All interested parties except for Highland Airways withdrew their bid and Welsh Assembly Government were going to allow them to carry on until. Highland Airways then went bust so they had to put the tender out again. This time a 7 month period on a 18 seater. Rumours have gone round that Direkflyg were due to operate the route.

The Welsh Assembly Government has had a lot of stick from the Conservatives & Liberal Democrats saying that this route at current fares are not comercially viable and so has a lot of other aviaiton specialists.

Initially when CWL-VLY service was launched it was said that approx up to 20 flights a day could be handled out of VLY. (can't remember the exact figure).

Wouldn't it be a good situation for the Welsh Assembly Government if they didn't have to offer a whole subsidy but part subsidise the route if Manx2 wanted to take it on.
