Metro Man - the future of airfreight with the 777F ? - if you can afford the $200 million price tag and make them pay then I agree. As to the 30 year junk.....what rubbish !Nothing wrong with 30+ year old B747F-200 - it all depends on how well they are maintained. Fuel is of course the issue. Do the maths. A well maintained B747F-200 $10 million for a good one versus $200 Million 777F. Similar payload. Even factoring in the extra bounces a 742F has to do in comparison and add the extra fuel burn.....a B742F will still pay its way and for a number of years to come especially in the current climate. AF could`nt - the 777F was dumped or they did not take delivery. Wake Up !
