more nostalgia....
With apologies to all non-nostalgia fans....
The DC3 G-APPO I have recorded as being scrapped at the airport Feb-Mar 1970, officially cancelled on 5/3/70. I visited the airport twice on 22/7/68. The McAlpine ramp in the picture has a Piaggio 166 and a Dove - probably OO-BPL which I logged as being parked there that day. I suspect the aircraft parked outside Autair is actually an Ambassador, with what looks like the resident GY-80 Horizon G-ASJY and an unidentified Aero Commander. Highlight of the day was Bavaria 1-11 D-ANDY during the evening, parked nose-in with Autair 1-11's on either side. I had no camera at the time and felt very envious of the guy who took several pictures from the old grass car park mentioned recently (and which had closed by the time I DID own a camera).
